BlueBell Ceramics
Ceramic artist, creating functional wares influenced by my local landscape
Hello!
My name is Blue Bell. I’ve been a ceramicist since 2016, working at Tresabenn Studio and spending time in various potteries throughout my apprenticeship with the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust. The support from this scholarship gave me the freedom to explore ceramics, experimenting with different styles and techniques fully.
I primarily work with earthenware clay, using traditional slipware techniques.
Based on the south coast of Cornwall—where I grew up—my work is deeply influenced by the area's dramatic and outstanding natural beauty.
Most of my pottery is functional. I believe ceramics offer a wonderful opportunity for interactive art. I love using handmade ceramics in my own home and constantly find something new in a cup, plate, or bowl each time I use it.
My tableware is made in short runs with a consistent design thread, but each collection is slightly different—fresh and unique, often reflecting the changing seasons or moods!
As a freelance ceramicist and pottery teacher, I take on commissions and orders. My work has been commissioned by institutions such as Tate St Ives, the Leach Pottery, and various small businesses.
